Background Check Process
Step 1: Input applicant into Nevada Automated Background Check System (NABS) account. Any person(s) who have not been entered into NABS will not be processed
Step 2: Have applicant complete the Consent and Release form and upload to applicants’ profile with all required signatures.
Step 3:Take the Consent and Release form to the local fingerprinting agency and provide ORI; MNU and RFP which can be found upon login.
Step 4: Ensure fingerprint agency signs the Consent and Release form on the last page of document.
Step 5: Payments made directly to fingerprinting agencies and Nevada Department of Public Safety (NDPS) can vary.
Step 6: Ensure the live scan, rolled or complete fingerprint card are sent to Nevada Department of Public Safety with payment:

Step 7: Facility must upload copy of Consent and Release form with the fingerprinting agencies signature included to applicant profile.
Step 8: Once reports are received and assessed for determination, Backgrounds Unit will update the applicant’s information within the facilities NABS account.
Live scan prints have a turnaround time of up to 7 days
Rolled prints have a turnaround time of up to 90 days
NEWS/UPDATE: All employees, residents, caregivers and volunteers must be fingerprinted within 24 hours of hire and inputted into NABS.
